One of the attractions at Pushkar is the lake itself. Surrounded by numerous ghats and temples, surprisingly, all the prayer offerings are made only at the lake. No one makes offerings at any of the other temples; even if they do, those offerings are brought out from there to the lake.
It’s a bane for tourists sometimes, though, because when you go down to the lake, you can get surrounded and hounded by priests brow beating you to allow them to do a prayer for you. The best solution is to get it over with once, and then keep the prayer thread around your wrist and hold that up to the pesky priests. They’re bound to leave you alone! 😉
