Architectural marvels #3: Shore temple, Mahabalipuram

The Shore Temple, overlooking the Bay of Bengal, dates back to the 8th century AD. This 60 ft high, five-storeyed temple sits on a 50 ft square platform and is made out of finely cut local granite. Wind erosion has had its way with the temple…but to this day, this UNESCO World Heritage Site draws visitors like a magnet.
